5 Ways to Grow Your Business with a VA

If you feel like you’re not getting things done because your to-do list has a to-do list, you’re not alone. A lot of solopreneurs and small business owners feel that way. But they often don’t look for help, because they’re afraid they’ll lose money by spending money.

It’s time to flip the script.

No doubt you’ve heard the phrase “it takes money to make money.” Maybe even rolled your eyes at it. Well, clichés become clichés for a reason — because there’s truth in them.

In this particular case, spending money properly on things that will generate a return is necessary to make money. The more you free up your time to do the big important work that only you can do, the more work gets done efficiently, and the more money you make.

So it’s time to cull your to-do list, and hand things off to someone else. Here are five ways you can grow your business by hiring a virtual assistant (VA):

1. Clean up your email inbox — This is one of the things business owners most appreciate, once they hand it off. Having a clean, organized email inbox and — if it suits everyone — someone who can continue to keep it clean and organized, is a blessing. You can save several hours a week by not having to weed through everything.

2. Customer service — In connection with #1, having a VA to help with customer service for your courses or membership or just to answer recurring questions, can be a lifesaver. Many questions can be responded to with templatized FAQ language, adding on just a bit of personalization to keep things friendly and unique, so that you don’t lose the “you” in your business.

3. Social media presence — A social media presence is important these days, whether you want to have a strong presence with lots of followers and engagement and promotion, or just want to generally remind people you’re out there by sharing events and specials. A VA can take care of that for you, from the graphics to the posting to the follow-up.

4. Building your list — If you have a small list, or no list, you need to get it built up. Never depend on just social media for your customers/clients/buyers, as you never know when a platform will disappear (TikTok, anyone?) or the algorithms change and your exposure tanks. (And as a side note, you never know when your email service provider will disappear or have serious issues, either, so be sure and regularly export/back up your list info!)

A VA can help build your list by promoting you on your social media with your freebies and lead magnets and low cost offers, which will get people on your list after signing up and/or purchasing. The VA can also help you with making new freebies/etc., and with the free time you’ve opened up by hiring the VA, you have more opportunity to develop new ideas for those offers (not to mention higher cost offers!).

5. Nurturing your list — The VA can also help nurture your list by setting up or revising welcome and nurture sequences in your email service provider, as well as writing/drafting weekly newsletters to keep your list engaged with interesting and helpful information, updating them on new events or promotions you have going on, and sharing new freebies.

The Final Word

It may seem counterintuitive at first, but hiring a virtual assistant is a smart investment that can significantly grow your business. When you can hand-off many tasks to a trusted person, you free up hours of your time that, in turn, you can use to focus on strategic and high-level responsibilities that drive your business forward.
